Olivier Dubois-Cherrier is a French painter, sculptor, land artist and photographer based in Tucson, Arizona, who has exhibited his work internationally. He got a BFA at the Art Institute in Miami and an MFA at the University of Arizona (2019). His Caribbean family background deeply influenced his path to art as well as the content he portrays in it. After many years of a nomadic life, he decided to settle for good in the Sonoran Desert where he finds a connection with the wide-open landscape of the Caribbean sea where he spent a major part of his life. Typically painting with thick impastos and using additional materials such as sand, soil, grass and found objects, he composes works that contemplate natural environments and pose philosophical questions. His themes include time, ego and death.
